MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – The Assumption baseball team could not hang on to a 5-4 lead entering the bottom of the ninth inning, as the Greyhounds fall to No. 6 Millersville University 8-5 in non-conference action at Morehead City Challenge.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Millersville was the first team to score, as they plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to go up 2-0. The Greyhounds got on the scoreboard in the top half of the third inning, as Max Lafrancois drove in two runs to tie the game at 2-2. The back-and-forth game would continue in the bottom of the fifth as the Marauders regained a two-run lead on a two-RBI single to the left, off the bat of Mark McNelly.
Assumption would cut the deficit to one run (4-3) in the top of the sixth, as
Jack Barry roped a double to left field, plating Owen Podelec on the play. The game would head to the top of the ninth inning with Millersville maintaining a 4-3 advantage, but with two outs in the frame,
Lorenzo Lombardo singled to left field to score both Lafrancois and
Cody Smith on the play to give the Greyhounds their first lead of the day, 5-4.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Assumption defense got two quick outs, but the Marauders would tie the game with a solo shot before hitting a three-run shot to walk it off for an 8-5 final score.
