MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – The Assumption baseball team took game one via walk-off hit, 5-4 in nine innings, before completing the sweep of Felician University following a 4-1 win in game two at the Morehead City Challenge.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – Assumption University 5, Felician University 4 – 9 Innings
Felician was the first team to score, as they plated two runs in the top of the first inning. The Greyhounds broke through in the bottom of the second inning.
Enger Paulino drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 2-1 before
Jamison Howland drove in
Christopher Rabias with a sacrifice fly to center field.
The Golden Falcons regained the advantage with a two-RBI single to right field off the bat of Ricky Voss in the top of the fifth. In the bottom half of the frame,
Owen Podolec drove in
Cody Smith with a single to left field. In his next at-bat, Podolec plated Max Lafrancois with a base knock to right field to tie the game at 4-4. The game would head to the ninth inning, and Podolec would finish the game off with a sacrifice fly to right field, deep enough to plate
Cody Smith from third, giving the Greyhounds a 5-4 walk-off win.
Kyle Keating got the start for the Greyhounds, as he went 4.2 innings where he allowed three earned runs while striking out four.
Austin Stone and
Ryan Cloutier combined for 4.1 innings on one hit baseball, where they struck out three.
GAME TWO – Assumption University 4, Felician University 1
Assumption got on the board first, as
Jack Barry drove in Lafrancois with an RBI single in the top of the third inning. The Golden Falcons tied the contest in the bottom of the fourth, as Jack Scrivanic hit a solo home run to center field. The Greyhounds regained the advantage as
Lorenzo Lombardo laced a double to center field, deep enough to score Smith from first. Lombardo would come around to score two batters later as Barry drove in the third baseman.
The game would remain 3-1 in favor of Assumption until the top of the seventh, where Smith scored again, but this time on an
Owen Podolec single to left field. Felician would get a runner to third base, but they could not scratch across a run.
Justin Ray picked up the win, tossing 5.2 innings, allowing five hits and just one run while striking out three.
Matthew Gardner picked up the save, as he had 1.1 no-hit innings in relief.
