FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Assumption University women's ice hockey team used an Emma Gurnell goal in the first period and a 23 save shutout by Carissa Mudrak to pick up a 1-0 win at Sacred Heart University in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption came out on the attack, as they outshot Sacred Heart 12-7 in the opening 20 minutes. Halfway through the frame, the Greyhounds got on the board as Emma Gurnell snuck one past the Pioneers' netminder.
 
After a scoreless second period, Assumption was able to slow down the pace of play, as they outshot Sacred Heart 8-4 in the frame to pick up the 1-0 road win.

• Carissa Mudrak logged 23 saves for the Greyhounds.
• Assumption outshot Sacred Heart 33-23, while the two teams split the 46 faceoffs.
• Neither team scored on the powerplay, as the Greyhounds were 0-for-2, while the Pioneers were 0-for-3.
