Baseball dropped two games at AIC via walk-offs

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Assumption University baseball team dropped both ends of their Northeast-10 doubleheader at American International College, as the Yellow Jackets walked off both games Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – American International College 3, Assumption University 2 – 10 Innings
Assumption was the first team to strike, as Cody Smith pulled a solo home run to right field in the top of the first inning. Matthew Holbrook doubled the Greyhounds' advantage in the second inning, scoring off a throwing error by the AIC left fielder, who overthrew the third baseman following the triple.
 
The hosts got on the board in the top of the seventh inning, as Tyler Zimak scored on a wild pitch. The Yellow Jackets tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning as they plated a run on a sacrifice fly to right field. The game went to extra innings, where Kiernan Caffrey walked it off for AIC, hitting a solo home run to right field.
 
Kyle Keating got the start. He allowed one run in 6.0 innings of work while striking out three.

GAME TWO – American International College 4, Assumption University 3
In game two, AIC was the first team to score, as Josh Frometa drove in Brenden Edvardsen with a single to left. The Greyhounds tied the game in the top of the second, as Holbrook scored on an error by the Yellow Jacket shortstop. Assumption took their first lead of the game in the top of the fifth, as Christopher Rabias plated Max Lefrancois with a single up the middle before scoring himself on a Holbrook single to right. 
 
American International would not go quietly. They struck for three runs in the bottom of the seventh, which was capped off by a walk-off single by Chad Lavelle.
 
Justin Ray was tagged with a no-decision but was stellar on the mound. He pitched 6.0 innings with seven strikeouts but allowed two hits and one earned run.
