MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Assumption University baseball team took game one 8-3 before falling in the second half of the twin bill 7-2 at Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – Assumption University 8, Southern New Hampshire University 3
Assumption was the first team to strike, as
Christopher Rabias doubled home
Owen Podolec before scoring later in the inning on a
Jack Barry groundout to put the Greyhounds up 2-0 in the top of the third inning.
The Blue and White doubled their lead in the fourth inning as the Greyhounds drove in a pair of runs via two sacrifice flies. In the top of the fifth inning, Manzo pushed the Assumption lead to 5-0, as his fly ball to centerfield was deep enough for Barry to score from third. The Penmen eventually broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Anderson Moreno scored on a while pitch.
Over the next few innings, the two teams traded runs. Both sides recorded runs in the sixth and seventh, with Rabias and
James Mahoney recording RBI, and Assumption carried a 7-3 lead into the eighth.
Sean Moynihan extended the Greyhounds' advantage to five runs (8-3), following an RBI groundout to second, plating Rabias on the play.
Kyle Keating earned the win after striking out two in 5.0 innings and gave up just two runs. Over his last four starts, he has allowed three earned runs in 22.2 innings while striking out 16 and just ten hits.
GAME TWO – Southern New Hampshire University 7, Assumption University 2
The Greyhounds scored in the top of the second inning, as Mahoney drove in
Matthew Holbrook with a single through the left side of the infield. Barry doubled the Assumption lead in the top of the third, driving in Rabias with a single through the infield.
Southern New Hampshire broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring a run on an Assumption error. The Penmen would eventually tie the game in the bottom of the sixth, as Jorge Burgos hit a solo home run to tie the game at 2-2. SNHU broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs on two hits and three Assumption errors.
The Greyhounds would have chances in both the eighth and ninth innings to answer, but they were held off the scoreboard and would drop the nightcap 7-2.
