HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – Assumption University 4, Wilmington University (Del.) 3
Assumption was the first team to strike, as Owen Podolec scored on an RBI groundout by Cody Smith in the top of the first inning. Podolec recorded an RBI with a single to center field, plating Jamison Howland on the play to go up 2-0. The Greyhounds would go up 4-0 in the top of the third inning as Howland tripled to centerfield.

Wilmington would not go quietly. They broke through in the bottom of the seventh and plated two runs. They cut the deficit to just one as they scored a run in the bottom of the eighth, but that would be as close as they would get, as Ryan Cloutier shut the door for Assumption to pick up his first save of the year.

Kyle Keating picked up the win. He tossed 6.0 innings, striking out five while allowing one earned run and one hit.

GAME TWO – California University of Pennsylvania 11, Assumption University 7
California started fast, scoring two runs in the first inning and one run in the second to go up 3-0 through two frames. Assumption got on the board in the third inning, striking for three runs. Christopher Rabias was the first to score and scampered home on a wild pitch. Cody Smith scored on a Lorenzo Lombardo single to center before Jack Barry crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly.

The Vulcans responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to regain a 5-3 lead. The back-and-forth game continued in the top of the fifth, when Howland had a bases-loaded single, plating one run before Matthew Holbrook had a two-run double to center field. California responded with three runs in the bottom half of the fifth to grab an 8-6 advantage.

CalUP added two runs in the bottom of the seventh to go up 10-6, but Jack Barry cut into the deficit with an RBI single up the middle. The Vulcans tacked on another run in the bottom half of the frame.
