WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team could not overcome a first-quarter deficit to No. 8 Saint Anselm College, as they would fall 17-9 in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Anselm started fast, scoring the game's first seven goals. Assumption got on the board with 25 seconds left in the first quarter, as
Patrik McGrath found the back of the net.
The two teams traded the first four goals of the second quarter before Assumption rattled off four-straight goals to get within four (9-5), with
Sam Maciel,
Colby Bailey-Gates, and McGrath recording goals to close out the first half.
Ryan Bogar opened the scoring in the third quarter with a goal 30 seconds into the frame, bringing the Greyhounds within three (9-6). The Hawks responded with five of the following six goals to extend their lead to 14-7, but Assumption would get back-to-back goals from
Brady McNulty and Maciel to trim the lead to 14-9. Saint Anselm would close the contest with three straight tallies to take the game 17-9.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Colin Malone and James Lopes combined for 12 saves for the Greyhounds.
- Brady McNulty and Patrik McGrath each recorded two goals and one assist for three points.
- Saint Anselm outshot Assumption 50-38 while having a slight edge in the faceoff circle, 16-of-30.
- The Hawks now leads the all-time series 19-6.
