Men's Lacrosse tops Saint Rose on Senior Day, 15-11

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team rallied strongly in the second half and picked up a 15-11 win over the College of Saint Rose in Northeast-10 Conference action Tuesday evening on Senior Day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The College of Saint Rose started strong, scoring the first four goals of the contest to go up 4-0. At 3:42, Jack Galvin put the Greyhounds on the board, recording his second goal of the year to cap off the scoring in the opening frame. 

Assumption flipped the script in the second quarter, outscoring the Golden Knights 4-1 and outshooting the opposition 19-2. Patrik McGrath and Jackson Bulger got on the scoresheet in the frame, with McGrath recording a hat-trick in the quarter, sending the game to halftime tied at 5-5. 

Coming out of the intermission, Saint Rose scored two quick goals, but the Greyhounds responded with four straight tallies, with Brady McNulty, Ryan Bogar, McGrath, and Colby Bailey-Gates, to grab a 9-7 advantage. After a stop goal from the visitor, Jack Rice, Bulger, and Aidan Rodgers responded for Assumption to close out the quarter strong and send the hosts to the final quarter up 11-8. 

Ryan Healey and McGrath opened the final frame with a goal apiece, extending the Greyhounds' advantage to 13-8. Saint Rose tried to close the gap with three goals, but the hosts' advantage was too great to overcome, with Assumption coming away with a 15-11 Senior Day win. 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • James Lopes recorded seven saves to pick up the win for the Greyhounds.
  • Patrik McGrath led all scorers with five goals and three assists. 
  • Assumption outshot Saint Rose 52-40, while the Golden Knights had a slight edge in the faceoffs department 15-of-29. 
  • The Greyhounds now leads the all-time series 6-5.
