SHREWSBURY, Mass. - This weekend, the Greyhounds hosted their second home race of the season, welcoming Mt. Holyoke College, Coast Guard, Bowdoin College, Simmons University, and Bryant University to Lake Quinsigamond.
Under cloudy skies and cool conditions with light rain and a light crosswind, the Greyhounds varsity eight started day of racing. The Assumption women got off to a fast start, putting themselves in the field of contention and just ahead of Simmons University for the first 1500m of the race. Simmons managed to chip away slowly and caught the Assumption Eight in the final 500 meters, 12 seconds ahead of Assumption (8:25.36). Coast Guard won the event in 7:16.57, followed by Bowdoin (7:24.41), Bryant (7:28.2), Mt. Holyoke (7:41.8), Simmons (8:13.92) and Assumption (8:25.36).

Later in the morning, Varsity 4+ took the water to race against two Bryant boats, Bowdoin and Mt. Holyoke. The four had a fast start and managed an impressive fourth-place finish with a time of 10:08.07, crossing the line nearly twenty seconds ahead of Mt Holyoke (10:27.45). Bowdoin won the event with a time of 8:28.9, followed by the two Bryant boats at 8:36 and 8:41, respectively. The four was coxed by
Brianna Rawlston and stroked by Izzy Anzalone, with Sydney Morrisey, Pri Rajesh, and Luwam Weldegiorgis sitting bow.
The Greyhounds are back in action next weekend when they host Merrimack, Connecticut College, Middlebury College, and Amherst College in their penultimate race of the season.
