RINDGE, N.H. – The Assumption University baseball team dropped an 8-3 Northeast-10 Conference decision to Saint Michael's College on Tuesday afternoon at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field on the campus of Franklin Pierce University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Michael's struck in the first inning and plated one run after a balk by the Assumption starting pitcher. After the first inning, the pitchers settled in until the bottom of the fifth inning, when
Max Lefrancois drove in
Jamison Howland with a double down the right-field line.
The Purple Knights regained the lead in the top of the sixth with a one-out double down the leftfield line, scoring one on the play. Tad Giardina extended the SMC lead with a two-out home run, making it 4-1 Saint Michael's. The Purple Knights threatened in the top of the seventh with the bases loaded and the middle of their lineup coming to the plate, but
Corey Chiappone got a ground ball to end the inning.
At the bottom of the seventh,
Owen Podolec doubled to center, plating
Patrick McManus from second on the play. Saint Michael's responded in the top of the eighth, as Dom Tetta drove in Jack Pattison with a flair for center field. The Purple Knights added three more runs in the top of the ninth to pull away for an 8-3 decision.
