LAKELAND, Fla. – The Assumption University women's soccer team rallied with a second-half goal to record a 1-1 tie at Florida Southern College in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at Berend Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Florida Southern was the first team to strike, as Sierra Spirk found a trailing Ashley Shimberg, who scored by driving the ball into the bottom left corner of the cage. The Mocs entered the halftime break outshooting the Hounds 13-1 and having four corners to just one for Assumption.
The Greyhounds tied the game in the 57
th minute when
Delaney Farinha made a run and finished with a strong shot into the bottom left of the goal. In the 63
rd minute, FSC had an excellent scoring chance, but the shot from Shimberg was denied with a diving punchout by
Frida Larsson in the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Frida Larsson logged 11 saves in the goal for the Hounds.
- Farinha recorded her third goal of the year.
- Florida Southern outshot Assumption 27-7 while also leading in corners 7-6.
- This was the first meeting between the two teams.
