HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds started fast, going on a 4-0 run, but the Hawks slowly chipped away at the deficit and tied the first set at 13-13. The two teams continued to trade points until 20-20 when the hosts went on a 5-2 run to capture the opening set.
Assumption jumped out to an early advantage for the second straight set, but Saint Anselm rallied with a 4-0 run to go up 4-2 early. The two teams would continue to be neck and neck for the majority of the set, but with the score tied at 18-18, the Hounds would rattle off a 4-1 run to go up 22-19 late. The Hawks would not go quietly, as they responded with a 6-1 run to secure a 25-23 second set win.
Saint Anselm controlled the third set. They recovered after dropping the first point to race out to a 10-3 advantage. Assumption would hover around and cut the deficit to five, but the margin was too large to come over.
