Football Rolls Past Post in Home Opener, 35-7

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Assumption University football team secured their second consecutive win with a dominant 35-7 victory over Post University in Northeast-10 Conference action at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

THE BASICS
Score: Assumption University 35, Post University 7
Records: Greyhounds (2-1, 1-0 NE10) | Eagles (1-3, 0-2 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Post opened the scoring early in the game when Isaiah Emmanuel rushed for a touchdown. The Eagles capitalized on some early shaky play from the Greyhounds. However, Assumption responded decisively, starting with a game-changing interception on a pass tipped by Jhensen Touze and caught by Josh Loureiro.

From that point, Assumption took control, dominating the game. Jay Kastantin connected with Cameron Reagan on a 44-yard touchdown pass halfway through the second quarter to tie the game. The Greyhounds took the lead just before halftime when Kastantin hit Quinn Sieger on a play-action pass over the middle to make it 14-7 at the break.

Kastantin threw his third touchdown in the third quarter, finding tight end Ethan Friberg for a 20-yard score. Kastantin then powered in a 1-yard quarterback keeper early in the fourth quarter to push the lead to 28-7. Chris Donohue, making his debut, added a final touchdown on a 2-yard run with just over a minute left, marking his first college score.
