WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University men's ice hockey team struck for four unanswered goals as the Greyhounds ran away with a 4-1 Northeast-10 Conference win over Saint Michael's College Friday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless first period, where Assumption outshot Saint Michael's 19-10, the Purple Knights were the first team to strike, as Hanz Forelius scored at the 6:26 mark of the middle frame. That was quickly answered as
John Woernle struck on the powerplay, as his shot from the point beat the SMC netminder at 10:30. Two minutes later, on another man advantage,
Leo Piandes put the Greyhounds in front.
The Hounds would head into the third period up 2-1, but Assumption would strike two more times, as
Sean Donoghue and Woernle found the back of the cage to secure a 4-1 NE10 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Callum Welch logged 28 saves in the win for the Hounds.
- Assumption outshot Saint Michael's 50-29, while winning 33-of-62 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds continued their strong play on the man advantage, as they went 2-for-6 on the powerplay, while the Purple Knights were scoreless on two opportunities.
- The Blue and White have scored eight powerplay goals over the last three chances on 21 chances (38.1 percent).
- Saint Michael's still leads the all-time series 42-31-3.
