SPRINGFIELD, Mass.— The Assumption University women's basketball team overcame an 11-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter and rallied for a 53-52 Northeast-10 Conference win at American International College Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
American International College started fast, as the host raced out to an 18-10 lead after 10 minutes of action thanks to 5-for-8 shooting from long range. The Yellow Jackets continued to expand their lead in the second quarter, pushing their advantage over the Greyhounds to 33-20 at the intermission. Assumption started to cut into the deficit as they shot 42.9 percent from the floor while holding AIC to just 22.2 percent in the third.
The fourth quarter was all Greyhounds, as the Hounds started the frame down 11. Still, a 9-0 run disintegrated the Yellow Jackets' lead, which was halted by a Keyvanna Bennett jumper at 5:19. Assumption continued to chip away at the deficit and would take the first lead since early in the first quarter when
Ashlyn Pacheco hit a jumper with 52 seconds left in regulation, giving the Hounds a 51-50 advantage.
Molly Stokes would hit a pair of free throws in the final moments, giving Assumption a 53-52 road win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Molly Stokes had a game-high 16 points, while Teagan Curran added 11 points on 3-of-3 shooting from deep.
- Marina Callahan had career-highs in both rebounds (14) and blocks (5), with five points and five assists.
- American International outrebounded Assumption 43-38, which included 19 offensive rebounds for the hosts.
- The win snapped a four-game skid for the Greyhounds.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 40-22.
