WORCESTER, Mass.— Marina Callahan scored 11 of her game-high 19 points as the Assumption University women's basketball team rallied past Adelphi University for a 53-45 Northeast-10 Conference win Saturday afternoon inside Andrew Laska Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption started fast from the jump, as they outscored Adephi 11-7 in the opening frame as the Greyhounds scored on all four offensive rebounds, with
Marina Callahan leading the way with five points. After
Molly Stokes hit a three-pointer to open the second quarter, neither team could tickle the twine for nearly five minutes, as Gamila Betton ended the streak with a pair of free throws at 4:33. The Panthers would tied the game at 16-16 with 1:12 remaining in the half, but
Maeve Moriarty gave the Greyhounds an 18-16 lead at the break, after hitting a pair of free throws.
In the third quarter, the two teams would trade baskets throughout, but Isabella Asencio scored eight of the Adelphi 18 points, giving the visitors a 34-33 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, the two teams exchanged the first few points, but with the Panthers leading 43-40, Callahan and Company went on a 16-2 run over the final 6:06, which included
Marina Callahan pouring in 10 points, while
Teagan Curran added five.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Marina Callahan led the way with 19 points and a career-high 16 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year.
- Teagan Curran added 10 points, joining Callahan as the only Assumption players in double figures.
- The Greyhounds outrebounded the Panthers 42-25 while also outscoring the opposition 26-20 in the paint.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 9-5.
