RINDGE, N.H.— The Assumption University women's basketball team dropped a road Northeast-10 Conference contest Tuesday evening at Franklin Pierce, as the Greyhounds fell 59-44.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game started fast, as both sides shot the ball well in the opening 10 minutes, and both teams converted on over 45.0 percent from the floor.
Marina Callahan and
Laura Johnson-Shedd led the way for Assumption, as the duo combined for eight of the 14 points for the Greyhounds, while Janessa Gonzalez's seven points led Franklin Pierce. The Ravens' two three-pointers proved to be the difference in the opening frame, as the hosts had a 20-14 lead after one.
In the second quarter, the defenses ratcheted up the pressure, as
Teagan Curran was the lead scorer for both sides with just three points.
Marina Callahan gave the Hounds their first lead of the game (23-22) with a layup at the 1:17 marker, but the hosts would add a free throw and a layup in the final minute to take a 25-23 lead to the intermission.
The Ravens started to pull away in the third quarter, as they held the Greyhounds to just 2-of-8 shooting from the floor with three turnovers, while Franklin Pierce connected on 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. FPU would carry a 41-32 lead into the fourth.
In the final frame, Franklin Pierce pulled away, as they held Assumption to 4-of-16 from the field and 1-of-7 from deep, while the Ravens converted on 50.0 percent (6-of-12) of their shots to pull away for a 59-44 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Marina Callahan led the way for Assumption, pouring in 13 points, adding eight rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and two steals. Teagan Curran was the only other Greyhound in double figures with ten points.
- Assumption shot 29.1 percent (16-of-55) from the field, while Franklin Pierce connected on 47.7 percent (21-of-44).
- The Greyhounds outrebounded the Ravens 36-28 while also outscoring the hosts 13-4 on second-chance points.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 31-18.
