WORCESTER, Mass.— Molly Stokes and
Marina Callahan combine for 40 points, but
the Assumption University women's basketball team fell to Saint Anselm College 56-51 in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon inside Andrew Laska Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption started fast, shooting 53.8 percent from the field.
Marina Callahan led the charge with six points, and they led 15-10 after the opening quarter. In the second quarter, Callahan continued to score, upping her total to 11 points. Saint Anselm saw some shots fall, but they only trailed by one (26-25) at the intermission.
Coming out of halftime, the Hawks would take advantage of some calls in their favor, as they converted on 8-of-9 free throws to outscore the Hounds 16-8 in the frame and go up 41-34 heading into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, the Greyhounds' comeback would come up short, as the closest that they would get would be three (52-49), following a
Molly Stokes' three-pointer.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Molly Stokes led the Greyhounds with 23 points, 19 of which came in the second half.
- Marina Callahan filled the stat sheet with 17 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, and two steals.
- Saint Anselm outrebounded Assumption 41-29 while outscoring the hosts 14-2 on second-chance points.
- The Greyhounds outscored the Hawks 23-15 in transition points.
- Saint Anselm now leads the all-time series 35-25.
