Men's Ice Hockey scores four-answered to rally past Franklin Pierce, 5-3

WINCHENDON, Mass.— The Assumption University men's ice hockey team snapped a six-game losing streak with a 5-3 Northeast-10 Conference come-from-behind win at Franklin Pierce University Friday evening. 

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
Franklin Pierce was the first team to score, as Austin Pick opened the scoring at 13:58 of the first period. The Ravens doubled their lead shortly thereafter, as Thomas Perivolotis doubled the lead at 16:29.
 
The Greyhounds would have to wait until the 7:24 mark of the second period, as Ryan Decker found the back of the net, cutting the deficit in half. Three minutes later, Giovanni Ursillo regained a two-goal advantage for the host, making it 3-1. Daniel Lemanski capped off a solid second period for the Hounds, as he found a way to beat the netminder, sending the game into the third period, with FPU holding on to a slim 3-2 advantage. 
 
Assumption would not have to wait long for the equalizer in the third period, as Decker picked up his second tally on the night at 7:46. Six minutes later, Jake DiNapoli tipped in the go-ahead goal, with Patrick McKiernan picking up the primary assist, with his blast from the point. Ronny Paragallo sealed the game for the Greyhounds, picking up an empty-net goal with under 45 seconds remaining in regulation. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Thomas McLarnon and Callum Welch combined to record 26 saves. 
  • Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 56-29 while also winning 40-of-75 faceoffs. 
  • Neither side scored on the man advantage, as the Greyhounds went 0-for-4, and the Ravens were 0-for-5. 
  • Nine different players recorded a point for the Hounds, as Jonathan Surrette (two assists), Decker two goals), and DiNapoli (one goal, one assist) recorded multiple tallies. 
  • Assumption leads the all-time series 36-20-7.
