WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University women's basketball team rallied for fourteen unanswered fourth-quarter points but could not complete the comeback against Southern New Hampshire University and would fall 59-54 in Northeast-10 Conference action at Laska Gymnasium Wednesday afternoon.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the first quarter, Assumption was outscored 21-10 and went 0-6 from three-point range. Defensive adjustments in the second quarter brought the Hounds back into the fight. Outrebounding the Penmen 14-8 led to more secondary chances, which paid off. The Penmen lead was cut to four points at halftime, 32-28.
In the third quarter, free throws and a pair of three-pointers made the difference and expanded the SNHU advantage to 49-38 heading into the final intermission. Two baskets early in the fourth quarter boosted the Penmen lead to the largest of the night, 53-38 with 9:13 to play. The Greyhounds responded with a 14-point run to make it a one-point game, 53-52 with 3:32 remaining. In the final minutes, the Penmen sunk a basket to force the Greyhounds to make a three-point play. The Hounds were ultimately held off.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Marina Callahan recorded her fourth double-double of the season, pairing 11 points with ten rebounds.
- Kaijhe Hall led the Greyhounds with 14 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double herself.
- Assumption outrebounded Southern New Hampshire 44-33; the Penmen registered 30 points off the bench while the Greyhound bench put up 20. The Hounds scored 28 inside the paint compared to 20 for SNHU.
- The Greyhounds still lead the all-time series 31-28
