SHELTON, Conn.— The Assumption University women's ice hockey team saw
Kayla McGaffigan score two goals and a shutout by
Jadyn Weiser, as the Hounds picked up a 2-0 win against Post University, Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption was the first team to strike, as
Kayla McGaffigan was able to find the back of the net off the faceoff shot by
Jodie Gratton. Post outshot the Greyhounds 17-11, but the Blue and White would keep their 1-0 lead into the second period.
In the second period, the Hounds outshot the hosts 18-12 before McGaffigan struck again, as she tipped in her second goal of the game on the power play with 2:10 remaining in the frame. The play opened up in the third period, as both teams fired double-digit shots, but both netminders refused to allow a goal in the frame.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser logged 26 saves en route to her third career shutout.
- Assumption outshot Post 27-26, while also winning 38-of-61 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds went 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Eagles were 0-for-3.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series 5-3-1.
