NEW HAVEN, Conn.– The Assumption University volleyball team fell just short against Southern Connecticut State University, as they fell 3-2 on Friday evening inside Pelz Gymnasium.

Records: Greyhounds (4-14, 0-2 NE10) | Owls (10-3, 1-0 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the opening set, Assumption took an early 11-6 advantage, but a 7-0 run by the Southern Connecticut State University allowed them to take the lead at 13-11. The two teams would continue to trade points for momentum, but it would be the Owls who would come out on top 25-23. In the second set, the Greyhounds raced out to a 7-3 edge. SCSU would attempt to battle back, but it was the Hounds who held on for a 25-19 win in the second set.
The third set was more of the same, with the Blue and White taking an early advantage, and the hosts bouncing back to tie the set. The two teams would trade runs down the set, but Southern Connecticut would come out on top, 25-21. The fourth set saw Southern take the lead early and hold on until it was 23-13. Assumption rallied for 14 of 16 points to steal the frame 27-25, forcing a fifth and decisive set.
In the fifth and final set, the two teams traded points early on, but with the score tied at 12-12, the Owls finished off the frame on a 3-1 run to win the match in five.
