Greyhounds Picked Third in NE10 Men’s Ice Hockey Coaches Preseason Poll

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team was voted to finish third in the Northeast 10 Conference Ice Hockey Coaches' Poll in the 2025-26 season, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. 

Saint Anselm tallied 25 points and five first-place votes from opposing head coaches to lead all NE10 programs. The Hawks are coming off an NE10 regular season title in 2024-25, following their 16-3-1 record (50 points) in league games. Under head coach Larry Rocha, Saint Anselm finished as runner-up at the NE10 Championship after losing to Saint Michael's, 5-1. 

Saint Michael's, the reigning NE10 champion, finished second in the poll with 18 points. In 2025, the Purple Knights won their first NE10 Championship in 16 years, defeating Saint Anselm for the first time in an NE10 Championship game since 2008. Evan Plunkett, a Second Team All-Conference pick at goaltender, returns for Saint Michael's this season. 

Assumption placed third in the poll with 17 points and one first-place vote. As they return three of their top five goal scorers from last season, including two of their four All-NE10 selections. Southern New Hampshire was fourth with 16 points, Post was fifth with nine points, and Franklin Pierce was sixth with five points. 

The 2025-26 season opens with games on Friday, October 31st, as the Greyhounds host the 2025 Woo Cup. Home and conference games for all NE10 programs can be watched this season on NE10 NOW on FloSports
