WATERBURY, Conn. - The Assumption University football team scored a season-high 63 points, as the team had 592 yards of offense, as the Greyhounds soared past Post University 63-27 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption started fast, as they scored on their first drive with
Jay Kastantin connecting with
Jake McAleavey from 26 yards out. Kastantin would pick up his second passing touchdown of the day, as he found
AJ Robinson for 54 yards to go up 14-0 after 15 minutes. One minute into the second quarter, Kastantin connected with
Connor Smith for six points with a 38-yard completion. The Hounds' lead would increase to 28-0 with 5:56 remaining in the first half, as
Dom Santiago scored on a designed run from two yards out. Post would get on the board before half time with a 1-yard rushing touchdown. The Hounds responded, as they went the length of the field in under a minute, and Santiago connected with
Matt Raeke from 11 yards out to go up 35-7 at the break.
The Hounds continued to flex their offensive muscle, as they scored on their first drive of the second half as Kastantin found Smith for a 53-yard touchdown strike. After Post responded with a 50+ yard touchdown score, Kastantin decided to score on a 30-yard quarterback keeper up the middle to go up 49-14.
Kyon Simonson put his name in the scoring column with a two-yard touchdown run before
Kaiden Brochu had a two-yard run of his own. Post added two more scores, bringing the final score to 63-27.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jay Kastantin went 10-for-15 through the air for 214 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 65 yards on the ground. Dom Santiago went 5-for-6 for 59 yards and one touchdown pass and added one on the ground.
- The Greyhounds had 319 yards on the ground, as they were led by Kameron Robbins with 98, Widley Jean-Francois had 91, and Kaiden Brochu chipped in 31.
- Connor Smith once again led the receiving end, as he had three catches for 101 yards and two scores. AJ Robinson had two for 68.
- Owen Fitzgerald led Assumption with eight tackles, while adding 2.0 tackles for a loss. Marquis Atkins had a solo sack, while Billy Gould and Nick Smith had interceptions on the day.
- Massimo Sgambati was perfect 9-for-9 on extra points and had four touchbacks.
- The Greyhounds outgained the Eagles 592-377.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series 2-0.
