COLCHESTER, VT.– The Assumption University volleyball team came up just short on the road against Saint Michael's College, as the Greyhounds fell in five sets, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A close 25-23 first set went the way of Saint Michael's, setting the stage for the close match. The Purple Knights built on their first set, winning the second 25-18. Then it was Assumption fighting to the end of the third set. The Greyhounds avoided the sweep with a 25-23 win. The fourth set was the most nerve-wracking. Assumption and Saint Michael's passed the lead back and forth. Eventually, it was the Greyhounds taking it 27-25, tying the match two sets each. In the final set, the Purple Knights jumped out to an early lead and couldn't be caught, taking the set 15-10, and earning the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Saint Michael's still leads the all-time series 29-15.
- Lilyanna Petrocelli led the Hounds with 14 kills.
- Brennah Abilheira-Cargill tallied three service aces.
- Natalie Brojek assisted 18 Greyhound points.
