SPRINGFIELD, Mass.– The Assumption University volleyball team closed out their road schedule with a four-set loss to American International College, in Northeast 10 Conference action, Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the opening frame, it was all American International, as they raced out to a 7-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets' lead would continue to grow, reaching as large as a 14-point spread (19-5). Assumption attempted to establish a comeback, but the hosts took the opening set 25-12. The second set saw a closer start to the frame, but AIC quickly took control as they went on a 7-0 run after starting with a 4-3 lead, to go up 11-3. The Greyhounds would battle back and would draw within three (23-20), but the run was just too late, as American International would take the set 25-21.
Assumption started strong in the third set, as they jumped out to an 8-3 advantage. AIC would fight back and would tie the stanza at 13-13, before going up 23-20. The Greyhounds would not give up, and they would force a fourth set, following a 6-2 run to win the set 26-24, thanks to three kills by
Kaitlyn Montgomery.
In the fourth, the two teams traded the first ten points of the frame, but AIC would take control with an 11-0 run to pull away for a 16-5 advantage. Despite a late push by Assumption, American International would move on for a 25-15 four-set win.
