SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT.— The Assumption University women's ice hockey team scored a program record three power-play goals, as the Greyhounds defeated Saint Michael's College 6-1 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action, Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption was the first team to score, as Lauryn Brocker lit the lamp at 5:24 of the first period. Saint Michael's tied the game just over a minute later, as Audrey Hetman scored at 6 15 of the first period. The Greyhounds regained the lead at 4:09 of the second period, as
Ava McGaffigan scored on the power play. The Hounds started to pull away late in the second period, as
Lexi Kirkeby,
Alaina Whitesell, and
Alexa Hanrahan scored, expanding the Blue and White lead to 5-1 after 40 minutes.
In the third period,
Heather Ajakie scored at the 8:45 marker on the power play, extending the Assumption advantage to 6-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser logged 26 saves in the win.
- Assumption outshot Saint Michael's 50-27, while also having the slight edge in the faceoff dot (29-of-57).
- The Greyhounds went 3-for-9 on the power play, while the Purple Knights were scoreless on three attempts.
- Kayla McGaffigan's three assists tied Alexa Hanarahan for the most assists in a single game in program history.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 8-0-1
