WEST CHESTER, PA. – In his first collegiate start,
Dom Santiago accounted for five touchdowns, as the Assumption University football team defeated West Chester University 42-24 to wrap up the regular season in non-conference action.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption started fast, as
Esteban Ortiz picked off the West Chester Quarterback and four plays later,
Dom Santiago connected with
Drew Schwab for a six-yard touchdown pass to go up 7-0. The Greyhounds' defense was at it again as
Jalen Smith-Phillip intercepted a pass. Assumption went up 14-0 halfway through the quarter, as Santiago powered his way in for a score. After West Chester got on the board with a 26-yard passing touchdown, Santiago powered his way into the end zone once again, putting ht Hounds up 21-7 early into the second quarter. After forcing a punt,
Dom Santiago collected his fourth touchdown of the day, as he connected on a one-play, 75-yard touchdown pass to
One Williams. The Greyhounds would carry a 28-7 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the scoring slowed down, as the Golden Rams opened the scoring with 3:23 left in the frame with a 36-yard field goal.
Kameron Robbins answered for Assumption, as he ripped off a 66-yard touchdown run, pushing the Blue and White lead to 35-10. Santiago recorded his fifth touchdown of the day, as he connected with
Will McNamara for a 49-yard touchdown pass, extending the visitors' advantage to 42-10. The hosts would record two touchdowns to bring the final score to 42-24.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- In his first collegiate start, Dom Santiago went 9-for-15 through the air for 258 yards and three touchdowns, while adding seven carries for 20 yards and two touchdowns.
- Kameron Robbins was the lead back for the Greyhounds, as he had 18 touches for 137 yards and a score, while Kyron Simonson and Kaiden Brochu combined for 11 carries for 53 yards.
- Connor Smith was the top target through the air, as he had three catches for 90 yards, while One Williams had two for 80.
- Owen Fitzgerald was all over the field with 12 tackles and a sack, while the Assumption defense had two picks and six pass breakups.
- With the win today, Andy McKenzie passes the current James Madison University head coach, Bob Chesney, with his 45th career win, becoming the winningest coach in Assumption Football program history.
- This is the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
