WORCESTER, Mass.– The top-seeded Assumption University field hockey team scored early and often, as the Greyhounds soared past the No. 8 Franklin Pierce University 5-0 in the Northeast 10 Conference Quarterfinals game

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started fast and furiously, as Marta Brzoka got the scoring started just 1:19 into the game, as she scored off the pass from
Nova Rijks. Three minutes later,
Mieke Rentsch doubled the Greyhounds' advantage with her fifth of the season, with
Chloe Kaeller picking up the assist. Rijks capped off the scoring in the first quarter with her sixth tally. The scoring would subside until late in the second quarter, with
Daisy Stone sneaking one past the Franklin Pierce netminder with 3:28 left in the first half.
The Greyhounds would carry a 4-0 lead into the fourth quarter, where Brzoska scored her second of the game, with Rentsch recording the assist on the play. Assumption would keep Franklin Pierce off the board and would move on to the NE10 Semifinals with a 5-0 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Paige Gillette made four saves for her fourth-straight shutout.
- Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 20-4, while also having five corners to just three for the visitors.
- This is the third straight year that the Greyhounds will host an NE10 Semifinals contest, and the seventh time in the last eight seasons.
- Assumption leads the all-time 33-9.
