WORCESTER, Mass.– The top-seeded Assumption University field hockey team surrendered three unanswered goals, as the number four-seeded Bentley University upset the Greyhounds 3-1 in the Northeast 10 Conference Semifinals, Friday evening at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was the first team to score, as
Elle Murray scored with a backhanded shot from the middle of the circle with just under three minutes remaining in the first quarter. Bentley tied the game up at 1-1, as Gracie Moore capitalized on a penalty corner with four minutes left in the first half. The game would head to the intermission tied at 1-1, but the hosts were leading 11-2 in total shots and 6-2 in shots on goal.
Coming out of the break, Bentley took their first lead of the game, as they scored once again on a penalty corner. The Falcons tacked on an insurance goal with just under nine minutes remaining to pull away for a 3-1 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Paige Gillette made just one save in the loss.
- Assumption outshot Bentley 19-4, while also having ten penalty corners to just four for the Falcons.
- Bentley advances to their first NE10 Championship since 2009
- The Falcons still lead the all-time series 50-19-1.
