SHELTON, Conn.—The Assumption University men's ice hockey team scored three unanswered goals en route to a 3-1 Northeast 10 Conference victory over Post University, Saturday evening.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Post was the first team to score, as Baxter Kimball capitalized on the power play at the 1:17 marker of the second period.
Jonathan Surrette tied the game for Assumption while on the man-advantage.
Patrick McKiernan's wrist shot from the point was saved, but Surrette jumped on the loose puck and flipped it into the open goal. The game would head into the third period tied at 1-1, but halfway through the stanza,
Caden Connors scored his first collegiate goal. While on a rush with Jake Russel, Connors crashed the net and scored with a low-angle shot, making it 2-1 Assumption.
While on a power play, Post pulled their goaltender, but Surrette would block a shot from the point and flip the puck into the empty net to capture a 3-1 weekend sweep of the Eagles.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Michael Salvatore recorded 31 saves between the pipes.
- Assumption outshot Post 39-32, while the two teams split the 66 faceoffs.
- Both teams struck on the man-advantage, as the Greyhounds went 1-for-3 while the Eagles were 1-for-7.
- This was just Surrette's third multi-goal game of his career.
- Assumption leads the all-time series, 24-5-1.
