WORCESTER, Mass.– Kaitlyn Montgomery recorded 8.5 blocks as the Assumption University volleyball team fell to Pace University 3-1 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon inside Andrew Laska Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Pace started fast, as they raced out to a 5-0 lead, before extending their lead to 8-2. The Greyhounds would attempt to come back, as they trimmed the lead to five points (11-6), but it would be the guests that would run away with a 25-12 opening set win. In the second set, the two teams would trade the first few opening points. Assumption would have the largest margin in the frame, as they took a five-point advantage (17-12), but Pace would go on a 13-5 run to close out the set and would go on to win it 25-22.
In the third set, the Greyhounds would grab a 12-7 lead, but the Setters would respond with a 9-1 run to go up 16-13. The hosts would recover and closed out the frame on a 12-5 run to take the third set 25-21. The fourth set was tight throughout, but with the score tied at 16-16, Pace closed out the match on a 9-5 run to win the match following a 25-21 fourth set win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Kaitlyn Montgomery had a match-high 12 kills, while adding 8.5 blocks. Her 8.5 blocks are the most by a Greyhound since Olivia Burke had 9.0 at Saint Michael's on Sept. 26, 2017.
- Marisa Billone led Assumption with 18 assists, while Marissa Krawczyk had 16.
- Grace Presswood recorded her sixth double-double of the year, as she logged 11 kills and 13 digs.
- Pace still leads the all-time series 24-4.
