WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Assumption University baseball team opened the year with a 12-4 loss to the hands of Rollins College in non-conference action at Alfond Stadium at Harper-Shepard Field, Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Rollins College got on the scoreboard early, as they plated two runs in the first two innings of the contest on groundouts to go up 2-0. The Tars doubled their lead in the third inning with a solo home run and an RBI single through the right side of the infield.
Assumption broke through in the top of the sixth inning, as
Cody Smith doubled home
Owen Podolec, with a shot to the left center field gap. Rollins broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh, as they plated five runs in the frame to go up 9-1.
After the Tars plated three more in the bottom of the eighth, the Greyhounds responded with three runs of their own in the top of the ninth with
Matthew Holbrook,
Max Lefrancois, and
Chris Klein picking up RBI in the frame.
Kyle Keating took the loss after tossing 5.0 innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out two.
