BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team improved to 4-0 to begin the year, as they dispatched D'Youville 17-1 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started fast, as
Ryan Bogar opened the scoring 29 seconds into the game, as he converted on the first shot of the game.
Boomer Staunton,
Ben McHugh, and
Brady McNulty got in on the scoring, with McNulty striking twice in the opening frame, putting the Greyhounds up 5-0 after 15 minutes.
D'Youville got on the scoreboard right before the halfway marker of the second period as Luciano Gonzalez scored a man-up goal. The Hounds responded as
Adam Gilbert and McNulty found the back of the cage to go up 7-1 at the break. Coming out of the intermission, Assumption continued to pull away, as McHugh,
Colby Bailey-Gates, Staunton, and Gilbert all scored, while
Shane Corcoran logged five saves in the crease, pushing the lead to 12-1.
Assumption would close the game strong, as the Hounds would outshoot D'Youville 14-2 in the frame, with
Cameron Theriault, Bailey-Gates,
Kole Mancini, McNulty, and
CJ Perro scored for the Blue and White, pushing the final score to 17-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Shane Corcoran recorded 13 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Assumption outshot D'Youville 43-22 while also winning 17-of-21 faceoffs, with Connor Stack leading the way with 12 ground balls.
- Brady McNulty led all scorers with four goals, while Ben McHugh recorded three goals and one assist.
- The Greyhounds are 4-0 for the first time since the 2018 season.
- This is the first time meeting between the two teams.
