WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team improved to 5-0 for the first time since the 2011 campaign, as the Greyhounds picked up an 8-6 win in their home opener, Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgian Court was the first team to score, as they found the back of the cage in the opening minute.
Ryan Bogar tied the game at 11:52 with his fifth goal of the year, but the Lions responded with back-to-back strikes to take a 3-1 advantage.
Nolan Johnson got Assumption within one with 2:44 remaining in the first period, which sparked a 6-0 run that stretched from late in the first to halfway through the third quarter. Brodie Seaborn hauled the Greyhounds' run with 3:47 remaining in the third, making it 7-4, but
Ben McHugh regained a four-goal advantage with his second goal of the day.
In the fourth quarter, both teams fired eight shots in the frame, but Georgian Court was the only team to score. They cut the final deficit from four to two, and Assumption came away with an 8-6 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Shane Corcoran recorded a career-high 18 saves in the crease.
- Georgian Court outshot Assumption 44-38, while the Greyhounds won 10-of-18 faceoffs.
- The Hounds were a perfect 25-for-25 on clearing attempts, while the Lions were 21-for-24.
- The Greyhounds are 5-0 for the first time since 2011 when they began the year 5-0.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series 3-1.
