LAKE MYRTLE, Fla. – The Assumption University baseball team closed their Florida Spring Break trip with a 6-2 win over the University of Minnesota at Crookston Sunday morning at the Matt Russ Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was the first team to score, as the Greyhounds struck for three runs in the bottom of the third inning, as
Chris Klein and
Jamison Howland picked up RBI in the frame. UMC added one in the top of the fourth before
Owen Podolec tripled to center, driving in
James McDermott to go up 4-1.
In the top of the sixth, Aaron Wensloff hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 4-2, but the Hounds plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth with two sacrifice flies to take the game 6-2.
Evan McCarthy got the start and struck out seven in 4.0 innings while not allowing an earned run and scattering three hits. Alex Meesig picked up the win, striking out three in 3.0 innings, while
Ryan Cloutier earned the save by striking out five in 2.0 perfect innings.
