No. 19 Men's Lacrosse upsets No. 13 Bentley 14-11 for program-record 10th win

WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 19 Assumption University men's lacrosse team went on a 7-0 run over the final 21:02 to upset No. 13 Bentley University, 14-11 in Northeast-10 Conference action, Tuesday evening at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started fast, as they scored the first four goals of the contest, with Ryan Bogar, Brian Shortt, and Boomer Staunton recording tallies in the opening 8:12. Bentley responded with four straight to close out the first quarter before recording the first two goals of the second quarter to go up 6-4. Brady McNulty kept the Greyhounds within striking distance with a man-up goal with 6:40 to go. The Falcons would close the first half strong, as they would outscore Assumption 2-1 over the final minutes of the frame.
 
In the second half, Bentley scored three of the first four goals of the frame to go up 11-7, with the 11th goal coming with 6:58 left in the third quarter. Assumption responded with goals from Shortt and Bogar to close out the third quarter down two (11-9) but dominated the fourth quarter, with McHugh, Aidan Rogers, and a trio of goals from Boomer Staunton to clinch their first home NE10 playoff game in program history. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Shane Corcoran recorded his fifth-straight double-digit save performance with 16 stops in the win. 
  • Boomer Staunton scored a career and game-high four goals, including the game-winner. 
  • Ryan Bogar established new career highs in assists (4) and points (7), both of which were game-highs. 
  • Colby Leighton and Trent Sargent combined for six caused turnovers and 11 ground balls, while neither turned the ball over. 
  • Assumption had the slight edge in shots (47-45), while Bentley won 16-for-29 faceoffs. 
  • The Greyhounds clinched a program-record 10th win of the season. 
  • Bentley leads the all-time series 28-6.
