WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University baseball team sees their losing streak extend to seven games, as they were swept by the University of New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference action, Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: University of New Haven 8, Assumption University 7 – 11 Innings
Assumption jumped out to an early lead, as they plated four runs in the bottom of the second.
Owen Podolec got things started with an RBI single to center before
Cody Smith cleared the bases with a double to the right-center field gap.
Jack Barry capped off the scoring in the frame with a flair single to center, driving in Smith from second on the play.
New Haven got on the board in the top of the third inning, as they plated two runs to cut the deficit down to two runs (4-2). The Greyhounds extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth as
Jack Barry and
Jamison Howland went deep, pushing their advantage to 7-2. New Haven would show some life in the top of the ninth inning, as they would tie the game with a five-run frame.
After a scoreless tenth, the Chargers would see a solo home run come off the bat of Cole Maucere, and that would be it for scoring, with New Haven taking game one 8-7 in 11 innings.
Game Two Score:
New Haven started fast in game two. They batted around in the top of the first inning, scoring five runs in the frame. The Chargers added to their lead in the top of the third, adding one run in the inning. Assumption got on the board, as
Eric Giarnese drove in
James McDermott with an RBI single to left field, before
Jack Barry drove in Giarnese with an infield single, cutting the deficit to 6-2.
After the Chargers pushed their lead back to five (7-2) following a solo shot in the top of the fourth,
James McDermott drove in
Jamison Howland with a sacrifice fly to deep center field, making it 7-3. UNH answered right back in the top of the fifth, as they tacked on two runs on a Cole Maucere double to the left center gap.
Assumption would add one run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run from
Sal Grinstead, before tacking on one more in the ninth with a
Jack Barry RBI double. The Greyhounds would fall 9-5 in game two.
