Assumption University Alumni and Coach Excel at 2025 Worcester County Amateur

WORCESTER, Mass. – Former Assumption University golfers Sean Magarian ('24) and Jack Moy ('25) delivered outstanding performances over the weekend, both finishing in the top five at the highly competitive 2025 Worcester County Amateur. Meanwhile, Head Coach John O'Hara also shone on the course, finishing tied for third in the Senior Division.

RESULTS

Competing at Kettle Brook Golf Club and Wachusett Country Club over two challenging days, all three Greyhounds stood out among a field of more than 120 amateur golfers from across Central Massachusetts and beyond.
  • Sean Magarian, a standout during his time at Assumption, secured a remarkable 1st place finish with a total score of 133 (-11), just one stroke off the lead. His weekend included rounds of 68-65, showcasing his consistency and poise under pressure.
  • Jack Moy, another Assumption alum with a record of strong collegiate play, tied for fourth place with a 144 total (E), carding rounds of 69-75.
  • John O'Hara, who has led the Greyhounds program with dedication and expertise, demonstrated his own skill as a competitor by finishing tied for 3rd in the Senior Division. O'Hara posted a total of 155 (+11) across two rounds, including a standout first-round 74.
Both Magarian and Moy attributed their success to the solid foundation developed under Coach O'Hara's leadership, praising the university's golf program and his commitment to excellence.

Magarian was the 2023-24 Northeast 10 Golfer of the Year, as he won the individual title with a -4 (209) in the NE10 Championship. He also had two more top-three finishes in the conference championship, including a second-place finish in 2021.
Moy had two top-ten placements in the NE10 Championship, which included a third-place finish during the 2022 championship.

The duo combined for two Northeast 10 Championships (2021, 2022), while finishing second in 2023.

Coach O'Hara has won three NE10 Championships at the helm of the Greyhounds, where he won his first, and the first in program history, in 2019.
