BUFFALO, N.Y.– The Assumption University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the final day of the D'Youville Tournament, as the Greyhounds fell to the hosts 3-0, and Kutztown University in five sets, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Match One – D'Youville University 3, Assumption University 0
The hosts raced out to a fast 6-0 lead before Assumption chipped away at the deficit and got within two (10-8). D'Youville responded emphatically, as they ran away with a 25-15 opening set win. In the second set, the Greyhounds started better, but the Saints quickly took control and pulled away with a 25-14 win. The Hounds would not go quietly, as they began the third set with an 8-2 advantage. D'Youville would slowly trim the deficit down to 14-11 and would go on a 5-0 run to go up 16-14. The two teams would trade runs down the stretch, but it was the hosts that would come away with a 26-24 win in the third set.
Match Two – Kutztown University 3, Assumption University 2
In Assumption's second match of the day, the Greyhounds would match Kutztown point for point for the majority of the first set, and it was a kill from
Lily Petrocelli that was the difference in a 25-19 win for the Hounds. In the second set, the Golden Bears went up early, 5-1 and 9-4, before Assumption tied the set at 10-10. With Kutztown maintaining a 15-14 advantage, the Greyhounds went on an 8-1 run to go up 22-16. After a squick run by Kutztown, the Hounds extinguished the late run with a
Kaitlyn Montgomery kill, winning the second set 25-20.
The Golden Bears responded with a 25-15 win in the third set, 25-19 in the fourth, forcing a decisive fifth set. In the final frame, the team would trade runs, but with the score tied 11-11, Kutztown would finish the match on a 4-0 run.
