Field Hockey stymied by No. 10 SNHU

MANCHESTER, N.H.– The Assumption University field hockey team fell to No. 10 Southern New Hampshire University 2-0 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Wednesday evening at Dr. George J. Larkin Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Southern New Hampshire was the first team to strike, as Amelia Crocombe scored 2:28 into the game. Assumption flipped the field shortly after, as they outshot the hosts 12-1 and had ten penalty corners in the first quarter, but they were unable to score. The Hounds continued their offensive attack into the second, as they outshot SNHU 4-0 in the frame. 
 
The game evened out in the second half, as both sides fired three shots aside. The Penmen added an insurance goal with 10 minutes remaining in regulation to go up 2-0. The Greyhounds had a late push, but they were unable to find the back of the cage. 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Paige Gillette recorded four saves in the loss. 
  • Assumption dominated the stat sheet, as they outshot the hosts 23-6 and had 13 penalty corners to just one. 
  • Giada Broccoli and Elle Murray each recorded four shots for the Greyhounds. 
  • SNHU snapped a 17-game winning streak for the Hounds in Northeast 10 Conference contests. 
  • Assumption leads the all-time series 11-4.
