NEW HAVEN, Conn.– The Assumption University erupted for six second-half goals, as the Greyhounds raced past Southern Connecticut State University in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon at Jess Dow Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Mieke Rentsch got the scoring started for the Greyhounds, as she scored her first collegiate goal.
Julia Carbone doubled the Assumption lead, as she registered a goal five minutes into the second quarter. The Hounds would carry a 2-0 lead into the third quarter, where they would explode for three goals, as
Elle Murray,
Marta Brzoska, and Rentsch all found the back of the cage.
Assumption tacked on three more goals in the fourth quarter, as
Taylor Tory,
Khianna Jackson, and
Ella Holtman recorded goals in the frame to run away with an 8-0 road win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Paige Gillette only needed two saves to secure her second shutout of the year.
- Assumption outshot Southern Connecticut 31-5, while also having the advantage in penalty corners (6-3).
- Eight different Greyhounds recorded points, with Mieke Rentsch leading the way with two goals and one assist.
- Over their last three games, the Hounds have outshot their opposition 74-10 and outscored them 18-2.
- Assumption has now tied up the all-time series at 20-20, after winning their 12th straight against the Owls.
