SHELTON, Conn.— The Assumption University women's basketball team dropped their second straight Northeast 10 Conference contest, as the Greyhounds fell to Southern Connecticut State University 54-44, Tuesday evening.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The scoring started slowly, as Assumption had a 10-4 lead at the 2:54 marker.
Emily Collins hit a three-pointer with 16 seconds left in the first quarter, but a Hope Davis layup as time expired, made it 13-9 in favor of the visitors after 10 minutes. Southern Connecticut tied the game at 16-16 at the 6:07 mark of the second quarter. The two teams would continue trading baskets until halftime, when it was tied at 22-22.
The Owls grabbed a quick five-point lead to begin the third quarter, as they hit two quick baskets to go up 27-22.
Teagan Curran would cut the deficit to one point (29-28), as she split a pair of free throws at 4:11 of the third quarter, but it was Southern that would hold Assumption at bay for a 54-44 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Emily Collins led three Greyhounds in double-digit points with 14, while Thai Davis (11 points and nine rebounds) and Teagan Kamm (10 points and seven rebounds) nearly had double-doubles.
- Southern Connecticut outrebounded Assumption 33-29, while also outscoring the Hounds 20-14 in the paint.
- The Greyhounds held the Owls to a season-low 54 points, as the Owls average 71.2 points per game.
- Assumption still leads the all-time series 25-23.
