WINCHENDON, Mass.— The Assumption University men's ice hockey team completed the weekend sweep of Franklin Pierce University, 8-0 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon. The win marks the largest shutout by the Greyhounds in nearly 33 years.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption was in complete control from the opening puck drop, as they outshot Franklin Pierce 15-4. The Greyhounds would be held off the scoreboard until
Jake DiNapoli lit the lamp at the 15:20 marker.
Chris Stackhouse doubled the Assumption advantage at 5:32 of the middle frame, before
Leo Piandes made it 3-0 with a power play tally at 17:26.
The Greyhounds would erupt for five goals in the third period with
Jonathan Surrette,
Patrick McKiernan,
Shane McElhaney, and
Nick Fall finding the back of the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Michael Salvatore recorded 25 saves to pick up his first shutout in a Blue and White uniform.
- Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 44-25, while also winning 36-of-63 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds went 3-for-6 on the man advantage, while the Ravens were scoreless on their one power play.
- With an assist on the third goal by the Hounds, Jonathan Surrette eclipsed the 100-point mark in his career.
- Most goals in a game since the Greyhounds won 8-2 against Saint Michael's on Jan. 8, 2022.
- 8-0 is the highest scoring shutout by Assumption since they won 10-0 at Nichols College on Jan. 27, 1993.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 38-21-7.
