WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University men's ice hockey team continues their offensive surge, as the Greyhounds soared past Post University, 8-3 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Friday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Post was the first team to get on the board, as Eoin Reager scored just over the halfway mark of the opening frame. Assumption responded in the final four minutes of the first period, as
Jake Russell tied the game. Less than a minute later,
Shane McElhaney gave the Greyhounds a 2-1 advantage with a backdoor goal.
In the second period, the Hounds saw their offense kick into gear, as
Andrew Toomey,
Daniel Lemanski, and Russell all scored in the first five minutes of the middle period, pushing the hosts' advantage to 5-1. After Post scored on the power play, McElhaney scored while shorthanded, giving Assumption a 6-2 edge after 4-0 minutes.
In the third period,
Declan Chapman and
Sean Donoghue lit the lamp for the hosts, before Baxter Kimball ended the game with a goal in the final minute for the Eagles, making the final score, 8-3 in favor of the hosts.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Michael Salvatore recorded 47 saves in the win
- Post outshot Assumption 50-47, while the Greyhounds won 40-of-73 faceoffs.
- The Eagles were the only team to score on the power play, as they were 1-for-8, while the Hounds were scoreless on three attempts.
- Assumption scored two shorthanded goals tonight, giving them nine on the season. The rest of the NE10 had 11 combined.
- The Blue and White have outscored their opposition 22-4 over their last three games.
- Nick Fall had a career-high three assists, where he had three career apples coming into the game.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 26-5-1
