EAST MEADOW, N.Y.— The Assumption University women's ice hockey team was shut out by Long Island University 1-0 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
LIU started fast, outshooting Assumption 10-6 in the opening period and earning a pair of power-play opportunities, but neither team could find the back of the cage. The play evened out in the middle period, but in the final minute of the frame, Lisa Schröfl scored for the hosts. In the third period, the Greyhounds controlled the action, but they could not find the equalizer and would fall 1-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser recorded 29 saves between the pipes for the Greyhounds.
- LIU outshot Assumption 30-27, while also winning 27-of-47 faceoffs.
- Neither team scored on the power play, as the Greyhounds were 0-for-2 and the Sharks were 0-for-4.
- LIU leads the all-time series 8-3-1
