WINCHENDEON, Mass.— The Assumption University women's ice hockey team saw goals from
Natalie Joiner and
Caroline Lilley, as the Greyhounds shutout Franklin Pierce University 2-0, in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action, Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption was the first team to get on the board, as
Alaina Whitesell forced a turnover in the Franklin Pierce zone, before centering the puck where
Natalie Joiner opened the scoring at the 5:18 marker of the first period.
After outshooting the hosts 15-5 in the first period, the Greyhounds continued to control the pace of the game, as they fired 20 shots on target, compared to 11 for the Ravens. Despite the offensive pressure, the Hounds could not find the back of the cage, maintaining a 1-0 lead entering the third period.
Caroline Lilley would find an insurance goal at 5:12 of the third period, as
Ava McGaffigan found Lilley while short-handed, and the Wakefield, Mass. native scored with a backhanded shot. Franklin Pierce would have three power play chances in the period, but they could not beat
Jadyn Weiser, and Assumption took the game 2-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser recorded 32 saves for her third shutout of the year.
- Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 45-32, while the Ravens won 23-of-43 faceoffs.
- Neither team scored on the power play, as the Greyhounds went 0-for-2 and the hosts went 0-for-3.
- With the win, the Hounds now establish a new program record for wins in a season.
- Franklin Pierce leads the all-time series 7-3-1
