WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University men's ice hockey team scored three goals in the third period to rally past Framingham State University, 7-6 in non-conference action, Tuesday evening at the Worcester Ice Center. 

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
Assumption was the first team to score, as they started fast with Ryan Decker and Brett Cunningham scoring in the opening five minutes. Framingham State got on the board with a power play tally at 7:21 of the first period, before tying the game with 5:43 to go in the frame. The Greyhounds finished the stanza strong, scoring twice in the final 20 minutes to give the hosts a 4-2 lead. 
 
The second period did not go the way of the Blue and White, as the visitors outscored the hosts 3-0 in the frame. In the third period, Surrette struck once again to tie the game at 5-5, before Jake Russell regained the lead for Assumption, while short-handed. In the final two minutes, Jake DiNapoli added an insurance goal with Framingham pulling their netminder for an extra skater. The Rams would not go quietly, scoring in the final minute, but they would not find the equalizer.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Callum Welch recorded 51 saves in the win. 
• Framingham State outshot Assumption 57-44, while the Greyhounds won 43-of-67 faceoffs. 
• The Rams went 2-for-4 on the power play, while the Hounds were scoreless on their only man advantage.
• The Greyhounds scored the most goals since Jan. 6, 2025, when they scored seven against MCLA. 
• Leo Piandes had a career-high three assists, while Jake DiNapoli tied a career-high three points. 
• 12 different Assumption skaters recorded a point, including netminder Callum Welch. 
• Welch is the first Greyhounds goalie to record a point since Thomas McLarnon had an assist against Post University on Feb. 11, 2025. 
• Assumption still leads the all-time series 24-10-2
