NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— The Assumption University men's ice hockey team moved to 2-0 in 2026, as the Greyhounds defeated Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts 3-1 in non-conference action, Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption controlled the action from the opening puck drop, as they outshot MCLA 27-8 in the first period. The Greyhounds would be the first team to get on the scoreboard, as
Jamison Alicandro scored at 7:11 after the dump-in by
Patrick McKiernan. The Hounds doubled their lead with just over a minute left in the period as
Jonathan Surrette scored on a one-timer off the
Jake Russell faceoff win.
Despite being outshot 16-8 in the middle period, the Trailblazers were the only team to light the lamp, as Shane Green scored for the hosts, sending the game into the third period with Assumption leading 2-1. The game would remain 2-1 until the final minute of regulation, as
Jake DiNapoli chased down a high flipping pass by
Caden Connors and buried it into the empty net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Brayden Ingram recorded 27 saves to pick up his first collegiate win
- Assumption outshot MCLA 57-28, while the Trailblazers won 35-of-67 faceoffs.
- Neither team scored on the power play, as the Greyhounds were 0-for-3 and the hosts were 0-for-4.
- With one goal tonight, Surrette extended his point streak to eight-straight games, as he has recorded seven goals and six assists.
- Tonight's game marked the 100th career game for Ryan Decker.
- Assumption still leads the all-time series 1-0
