WALTHAM, Mass -- The Assumption University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 Northeast 10 Conference match at Bentley University on Tuesday evening at the Dana Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption came out strong in the opening set against Bentley, jumping out to an early 8-4 advantage behind kills from
Kaitlyn Montgomery, Lilyanna Petrocelli, and
Nora Sharkey. The Falcons responded with a 9-2 run to take a 13-10 lead, but the Greyhounds battled back to tie the set at 13-13 following a service ace from
Natalie Brojek. The two teams continued to trade points, with Assumption taking a 17-16 advantage on a kill from
Grace Presswood. Bentley regained control late, but the Greyhounds fought off one set point before falling 25-23.
Bentley carried its momentum into the second set, opening with a 4-0 run before extending its advantage to 10-4. Assumption attempted to rally behind kills from
Christine Mbachi, Petrocelli, and Presswood, but the Falcons maintained control throughout the frame. Bentley recorded 15 kills while hitting .481 in the set, eventually pulling away for a 25-13 victory and a 2-0 match advantage.
The Falcons continued their offensive pressure in the third set, racing out to an 11-2 lead. Petrocelli provided an early kill for Assumption, while
Kendall Larkin and
Allie Barton added kills later in the frame. Despite the Greyhounds' efforts, Bentley maintained its advantage and closed out the set 25-11 to secure the three-set victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Petrocelli led Assumption with five kills while hitting .200, while Presswood paced the defensive effort with seven digs.
- Brooke Bowbliss dished out a team-high 11 assists, while Makenna Glenn added five digs and two service aces.
- Brojek contributed three assists and an ace, while Mbachi recorded two kills and a solo block.
- Bentley now leads the all-time series 49-5.
